About Pencil Budget
Pencil Budget makes simple, free tools to make the numbers work: a household budget for one income or several, a bill and rent splitter, a trip budget and a home project budget. The name comes from the everyday idiom: to pencil out a budget is to sit down and work out whether the numbers add up.
What we believe a budget calculator should do
- Start empty. No made-up example household and no averages filled in. You enter your own numbers.
- Keep your numbers on your device. Everything runs in your browser and is saved there. Nothing is sent to us.
- Let you take it with you. Excel, PDF or a link â no email address required.
- Say what it does. If a rule can't be applied the way you'd expect, the calculator tells you on the page.
Who makes it
Pencil Budget is run by Kling Invest & Consulting AB, a small company in Sweden that also makes a Swedish-language budget calculator. Questions and feedback: hello@pencilbudget.com.
How the site is funded
There are no ads on the site today. Later it will be funded by ads and affiliate links. Ads and affiliate links will always be clearly labeled, and we will never show ads for loans or credit cards.
Not financial advice
The calculators are planning tools. They do the arithmetic on the numbers you enter; they don't know your situation and they are not financial, tax or legal advice. See the terms of use.
